Bolshoi Theatre - Historic Stage
When people think of the Bolshoi Theater, they usually think of the main building with the Historic Stage, which has become one of the main tourist attractions in Moscow. The Historic stage begins its history in 1825. It is located on Teatralnaya Ploschad (Theater square). In 1843 the first reconstruction took places, but unfortunately a fire in 1853 burnt down all the insides of the building. In 1856 the splendor of the Historic Stage was restored. In the early 21st century the main building was closed and underwent a 6 year renovation. In 2011 the Historic stage opened again with a concert featuring international artists, ballet troupes, and opera companies. "Ruslan and Lyudmila" opera was the first performance on the renovated Historic Stage.
